Westbury Infant School and Resource Base

Friday 24th March 2023

The children really enjoyed performing their songs and poems for the Mother’s Day Assembly on Monday. Thank you for attending and if you couldn’t make it then I hope you got your own individual performance at home.

This week the children have started to learn about Minibeasts and have enjoyed hunting for them around the school grounds. We have discovered what minibeasts need to survive and found out facts about a few of them. One of the fascinating facts we learnt was that snails have thousands of teeth. At the end of the week, we took advantage of the rain to go in the forest school’s area and build minibeast homes. It was the perfect weather to see and find lots of minibeasts. In the creative area, the children were set the challenge to create a minibeast using the resources available to them.

Dragonflies Topic 24th March 2023

Dragonflies have become expert pattern makers! The children enjoyed listening to the story, ‘The Pattern Fish’ and could discuss the different types of patterns in the story. Following on from the story the children investigated making patterns using cubes, coloured paper and loose parts. At the end of the week, the children explored 3D shapes. We went on a 3D shape hunt and the children are becoming more confident to name them. The children had fun working in pairs to build a model following their partners instructions.
