Wonderful Woodland Walks

Wow what a wonderful week we had this week with the first school trip of the year for Kangaroo Class. What an amazing day we had exploring the woodlands at Moors Valley Country Park. The children were very excited to see the Gruffalo characters nestled in the woods. We were very impressed with the children's physical agility to tackle the natural climbing frames that were on offer throughout the woodlands. It was a very busy day which resulted in a few sleepy children on the coach on the way back to school. Look at all the amazing fun we had in our photos below:

Kangaroos Term 2 Week 4

Our focus text for this week was 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. The children have enjoyed dressing as the characters to retell the story in the role-play area. We have perfected the voices for Daddy bear, mummy bear and baby bear. Why not ask your child to read you the story if you have a copy of the book at home.

In our maths sessions this week the children have been learning about parts and wholes. We started by exploring the language of parts and wholes by looking at toys that had different parts that could be removed and then put back again to make the whole. We then applied this knowledge of parts and wholes to the number two and three. The children could say which numbers would be a part and which would be the whole.

In our topic work this week we continued to look at the woodlands and we discussed how we could be safe in the woods. We also looked at a map of a woods to point out the features the children may find in the woods.

On Friday, we started to get into the Christmas Spirit a little early as we are decorating a tree as part of the Christmas Tree Festival on Friday 2nd December. The tree will be displayed in All Saints Church.
