Westbury Infant School and Resource Base

Friday 2nd December 2022

It has been an exciting week with the magical appearance of our Kindness Elf and lots of Christmas decorations in our classroom and across the school. However that definately hasn't stopped the Ladybirds working super hard!

Year One have been learning all about shapes in Maths. They have looked for 2-D and 3_D shapes in the classroom, used play dough and lolly sticks to make them and named and labelled them. They have also worked with partners to sort and group 2-D and 3-D shapes. In Topic we have carried on a Design Technology project with the children designing a card that includes pivots, levers, hinges and sliders. The first ones that have been made are wonderful and next week the rest of the children will finish theirs.

Year Two have carried on with their shape work in maths. They have really worked very hard! In Topic they have been learning all about the effects on exercise on our bodies. We had great fun finding our pulses and counting how many beats in 30 seconds. We completed some different challenges to see what happened to our bodies. The children did some star jumps, running on the spot, standing on one leg and clicking our fingers. The children noticed that their heart rate increased the most when they ran on the spot and star jumped. They also noticed that standing on one leg made the muscle in the back of their leg sore. A really fun experiment.

Mrs Macfarlane will be on PPA on Thursday so there will be a supply teacher taking the class. Miss McVeigh will be in class.

If you are able to walk with us to the church on Friday please let us know on the door.

Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.
