Friday 5th December
We’ve had a wonderfully busy week in class!
We have spent time this week learning lines, songs and actions for our nativity play. The children have been practising with great enthusiasm, and we are all getting excited for the performance.
In Drawing Club, we read The Christmas Pine and thought about how we could keep the tree warm and what the forest might look like. The children then decorated their own trees with pom poms and buttons, made salt dough decorations, created their own angels, and used paint dabbers to design a string of fairy lights.
Our star words for the week are:
⭐ gift
⭐ delighted
⭐ tradition
⭐ festival
⭐ shimmer
⭐ distant
In Maths, some children have continued learning about 2D and 3D shapes. They have counted vertices, edges and faces, sorted shapes, and used them to create repeating patterns. The rest of the class has been using part–whole models to help them say the number sentence: “The whole is…, … is a part and … is a part.”
In DT, we have started making Christmas stockings. On Monday, the children designed their stockings, and on Friday they learnt how to use a running stitch to sew a continuous line into binca. We are very excited to begin making the stockings next week!
Next week:
Thursday 11th December - Church service
Friday 12th December - Nativity performance at 9:30 - children allowed to attend
