Happy New Year!

It was so lovely to see all the children back in school after the Christmas break. The children enjoyed sharing what happened during the holidays and this inspired them to draw some pictures and write about their break.

The children enjoyed sharing what their favourite toys were at home. At the end of the week the children were keen to investigate some toys that worked in different ways. We discussed how they worked and whether they were new or old toys. The favourite toy from the group was a light up spinner that had the crazy frog music.

In our maths sessions, the children had fun playing a game of ‘shake and spill’ They put a number of snowflakes in a cup and then spilled them on the carpet. The person who was watching had to say how many snowflakes they could see. On Friday, the children explored different ways to place the snow person’s buttons which helped the children add two or three small numbers together.

We read the story, ‘Squirrel’s new year’s resolution’ and the children thought carefully about what they were good at and what they may like to learn or something that they would want to get better at. The children shared their resolutions with each other and I look forward to seeing what they achieve in 2023.
