This week, Dragonflies have had lots of fun completing art challenges. The children enjoyed experimenting with collage and weaving. As part of the Easter celebrations the children made cards and then bunny head bands ready for the Easter Egg Hunt.

Dragonflies Art Week 6

To inspire the children to write for a purpose we shared the story called ‘Saving Easter’. The Easter Bunny had a problem that needed to be solved. There were no eggs to decorate, no fur for the paintbrushes to decorate the eggs and no animals to dig the tunnels. The children thought about what animals could lay eggs, which ones that would have hair that could make a paint brush and those animals that like digging burrows. The children then wrote to the animals to ask for help.

In our Maths Sessions this week the children have been learning about Doubling. The children made two towers that had the same number of cubes and recalled the total number. The children also watched an episode of Numberblocks to help consolidate their understanding of doubling.

On Wednesday, we had a walk to the Church for the Easter Service which was lovely. The children enjoyed singing the songs they had been learning as part of singing assembly. They listened really well to the children in year 2 recite their poems and verses.

During child initiated learning, the children have enjoyed pretending to be the Easter bunny to hide eggs in the outside area. The children then wrote some clues to make it easier for their friends to find the Easter Eggs.

On Friday, we had a very special visitor to the school the Easter Bunny! The children loved hunting for eggs in the hall and getting to meet the Easter Bunny. It was a very exciting end to the week and there were lots of happy faces when they discovered Easter Eggs in the classroom.
