Christmas is in the air....

Wow what a busy week we have had rehearsing and learning songs for our Christmas Nativity. The children have worked their socks off to learn all the actions and words for each song. We are really proud of them and we know you'll enjoy the Nativity next week.

This week, our story focus was Stickman and the children enjoyed talking about the story. We asked the children to think how the characters were feeling at different points in the story and freeze frame that emotion on their face. Following on from the story, the children had the opportunity to create their very own stick person.

In our maths lessons, we have been subitising (recognising a small number of objects without counting) and we have also worked on counting a number of actions reliably. The children are becoming really confident to recognise numbers without counting and can describe how they see the objects for example a group of two and group of three makes five.

To get in the spirt of Christmas we have given the children lots of opportunities to do arts and crafts. Some of these will be available for you to buy following our afternoon Christmas Show.

This week we also assessed the children's phonic knowledge and we were impressed with how well the children are doing. If you would like to support your child's reading then please check out the RWI blog:
