Friday 9th September

What an amazing start to the new school year the children of Ladybird Class have made! As well as moving into a new class the children have taken the routines of being in a split class of Year One and Year Two in their stride. Miss McViegh and I are are really proud of how hard they have worked!

The Year One children have been busy learning all about animals in Science. They have been grouping and sorting them and labelling the different body parts. They even got a visit, via the computer, from a Zoo keeper. In Maths they have been sorting, counting and matching numbers to 10.

The Year Two children have been learning about Plants in Science. On Tuesday they had a visit from a gardener who talked to them about different plants. In class we have been learning about the different parts of plants and their importance, what they need to grow and the difference between seeds and bulbs. We have set up an experiment and we look forward to seeing what happens in a couple of weeks. In Maths Year Two have been thinking about the tens and ones in 2-digit numbers.

In computing both year groups have been thinking about Internet Safety. We were very impressed with their knowledge and discussion.

This term we will be reading a story every fortnight and really getting to know it. We will be finding out what new words mean and putting them into sentences. This week we started reading Cottonwool Colin by Jeanne Willis. We would love it if you could share this story at home together.

We are already looking forward to another busy week of learning next week.
