Happy New Year Leopard Class!

Wow, what an amazing first week back! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year :)

The children got stuck into learning this week.

We started by retelling the story of the Three Little Pigs. The children worked in small groups to become the characters and use the familiar phrases we all know. We are focusing on traditional tales with a twist, so the children were soon listening to the story 'The Three Little Wolves and The Big Bad Pig', which the children really enjoyed.

In maths, Year 1 have been counting on and adding using a number line and recognising number bonds to 10 to help them to identify number bonds to 20. Year 2 children have found equal and unequal groups, and have used repeated addition and the multiplication symbol to represent them.

We have a new topic in science of 'How can materials be changed to be something different?'. The children went on a material hunt to see which ones they could spot, what they were used for and how they would describe them. Then, the children completed an investigation to try manipulate and change the shape of the materials.

The children were amazing on Tuesday in our first swimming lesson of the term. So many of them challenged themselves and were very resilient in getting into the pool and completing the tasks set by the lovely swimming teachers. All of them should be so proud of them and I look forward to seeing them progress.

NOTE:

- Please make sure swimming kits are in for Tuesday afternoon for our second swimming lesson.

- Mrs Millard will be teaching Leopard Class on Thursday.
