Honeybee Class Friday 5th December
Christmas Preparations in Full Swing!
What a magical and festive week we’ve had in Honeybee Class! We began with a wonderful sensory story based on The Christmas Pine by Julia Donaldson. The children explored pine needles, smelt woodland scents, discovered snowdrops and twinkling fairy lights, and even felt cold waves and Christmas baubles. They showed brilliant concentration and enthusiasm throughout, truly bringing the story to life.
Following our story, the children created their very own beautiful clay Christmas trees, carefully decorating them with colourful buttons. They also made vibrant wreaths, explored seasonal-scented playdough, and decorated felt stockings. Their creativity shone in every activity!
In maths, we focused on finding one less from a given amount. The children learnt this concept practically through well-known songs, puppets, and small-world setups. They demonstrated fantastic understanding and were so proud of their learning.
During our topic sessions, we deepened our knowledge of the world around us by exploring nocturnal animals. We looked closely at hedgehogs, studied photographs, watched videos and created our own wonderful hedgehog models using clay and natural materials.
Alongside this, Christmas play practice is in full swing, and the children are thoroughly enjoying getting into the festive spirit.
We ended the week with a real treat on Friday—a visit from a fantastic jazz band! It was an absolute highlight watching the children’s faces (and dance moves!) as they listened to the different styles of music. A joyful end to a busy and exciting week.
Well done, Honeybee Class! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
