Honeybee Class: A Sparkling Start to the Week!
Honeybee Class kicked off the week with a spark as the children immersed themselves in a firework sensory story. They listened to the exciting sounds of fireworks, watched colourful lights flash before them, smelt wood burning, crunched through autumnal leaves, and marvelled at bursts of colour dancing before their eyes.
Our exploration of Bonfire Night continued as we created our very own beautiful firework pictures and bonfire collages. The children also made their own sparkly, prickly playdough — a fantastic (and fun!) way to strengthen fine motor skills and develop listening skills. Lots of fun was had by all!
In maths, we’ve been focusing on how our total changes when we add one or take one away. The children followed number stories and used props to help them find new totals — showing great confidence as they demonstrated what fantastic mathematicians they all are!
During our topic lessons, we discussed how to stay safe on Bonfire Night. The children learned the importance of standing back to watch fireworks, wearing gloves when holding sparklers, and protecting their ears with a hat or ear defenders if the sounds feel too loud.
In PE, we put our aiming and throwing skills to the test by working our way through an obstacle course, sorting items into the correct colour groups.
What a fantastic week it has been for our brilliant Honeybees — full of discovery, creativity and teamwork!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
