Honeybees Friday 25th April

Welcome back Honeybee Class! It has been a super first week with lots of wonderful learning to be seen.

In English this week we have focused on the story Jack and the Beanstalk. The children have enjoyed joining in with repeated phrases in the story, drawing their favourite parts of the story and taking part in quizzes and wowed us with how much they could remember.

In maths this week we have been learning how to count out totals accurately. The children have looked at how a number can be represented in a variety of different ways and that we have to count each item carefully to find a total. They have continued to practice how to form numbers correctly, find numicon representations and count a total correctly and check their answers.

In science this week we have been learning about the life cycle of a plant. We have learnt that plants grow from a seed, that they must have all the right conditions to grow, we then planted our own cress seeds. We will continue to look after our plants and next week we will focus on the basic parts of a plant.

In addition to this we have enjoyed, 'Time to Talk,' sessions in which we have enjoyed looking at picture prompts about animals. We had fantastic discussions! We named them, pointed to them, discussed whether we have ever seen one before and also sorted the animals into pets and not pets. Furthermore, we looked closely at places we like to visit. We looked at pictures such as parks, swimming pools, soft plays and woodlands and spoke about our own experiences, named these places and what spoke about what we enjoy doing.
