Honeybees Friday 4th July

Ahoy there, parents!

Honeybee Class have had an exciting week, diving into the swashbuckling world of pirates! Inspired by the story Lunch on a Pirate Ship by Caryl Hart, the children have fully immersed themselves in pirate-themed adventures.

They loved designing their very own healthy lunches fit for hungry pirates, showing creativity and thoughtfulness in their choices. The class also worked hard to improve their fine motor skills by creating beautiful treasure pieces using a variety of materials.

As part of their pirate exploration, the children made their own treasure chests brimming with sparkling treasure and drew imaginative pirate maps to help guide the way.

In math's, we have been exploring measurement, with a particular focus on weight. The children have learned to use weighing scales by experimenting with a range of classroom objects and carefully observing what the scales show. They have become increasingly confident in using the terms heavier than, lighter than, and equal to.

In our topic sessions, we have been learning about floating and sinking, and experimenting with what happens to different objects when placed in water. The children were fascinated by the results and enjoyed predicting and observing the outcomes. We will continue this learning next week by setting the children an exciting challenge: to design and make a boat of their own that will float on the ocean!

Have a wonderful weekend all!
