How do you paint a portrait?

It has been all about art and the buzz of a school trip in Firefly class this week. The children have continued their work on Thomas Gainsborough and having a go at following instructions for drawing a portrait before our trip.

The children had the most wonderful time at the Holburne Museum in Bath. Their behaviour was fantastic and a real credit to the school. It was commented upon by several members of the public who were also visiting the museum. The children were amazing showing respect and walked beautifully around the museum. they were amazed at the size of some of the painting. once they had seen the portrait of Thomas Gainsborough they had a go at creating their own portrait using collage material. These are already on display in the classroom and look fantastic.

After a rather large lunch, the children explored Sydney Gardens and recapped some of their knowledge from Year 1 looking at the Great Western train line from Bristol to London. Some of us were very lucky to see two trains and have a wave with a toot of the horn from the drivers.

Next week the children have a go at a final portrait building on their skills from the topic.

Just a small reminder, all children need slippers in school, especially as the weather is getting colder and wet.

Miss McMillan will be in class on Thursday and Friday next week.

Have a lovely weekend.
