Music and Maths

What an absolutely fabulous week it has been in Firefly Class. The children are positively blossoming.

Many of the children have been set some extra reading challenges and they are certainly rising to these. The love working with Miss Smith each morning to complete these. Their progress is certainly showing during their independent learning.

At the end of last week, the children had a wonderful afternoon making their own musical instruments using reclaimed materials. It was wonderful to hear them playing them.

We have started a new topic in maths developing our multiplication and division skills. We have been grouping objects showing equal and unequal groups, adding them and using the multiplication symbol. The children have been brilliant and the vocabulary has been absolutely fantastic.

During the afternoon, the children have started learning about Florence Nightingale and her significance in History. Ask the children what they though of the hospitals!! They have enjoyed representing their learning n lots of different ways.

Next week we have a visit from Trowbridge Museum to support our History learning and we will hopefully be meeting a real-life Florence!

Mrs Ibbeken will be teaching Firefly class on Tuesday morning and all day on Friday. Miss Smith will be in Monday – Thursday and Mrs Fitz Henry Roe all week.

Have a great weekend.
