Westbury Infant School and Resource Base

Saturday 20th May

Hello everyone.

It has been a lovely sunny week and I hope that you are enjoying your weekend.

Year 2s have been doing their KS1 SATS this week in Maths and then enjoyed a lovely creative time in the afternoons making their puppets. You can see from the pictures how well they have done. In RE, they have been learning about how Muslims feel a sense of belonging when they pray and in Life Skills they have been thinking about dental hygiene and how to look after our teeth.

Year 1s have started to learn about fractions this week in Maths. We have found half of shapes and have used grouping to find half of amounts. On Friday, we folded shapes into quarters and then identified shapes which have been divided into quarters. The Year 1s enjoyed tracing their route on a map on their walk around Westbury as part of our local area study in Geography. In RE, they played games with a dreidel and then sorted images of things that help children celebrate Hanukkah in Judaism. In Life Skills, we made posters to show how we protect ourselves from germs by washing our hands and sneezing into tissues.

We had a peaceful yoga session in PE to help us all to relax and are looking forward to the Parent Celebration events on Tuesday next week for Year 2 and on Thursday for Year 1.
