Saturday 27th May

Hello everyone.

We have had a very busy week but I am afraid that I haven’t taken many photos. We will do better when we get back after the holiday. It was fantastic to see so many parents in the Parent Celebration Events.

Year 1s have been continuing to investigate halves and quarters in maths – looking at both shapes and numbers. We learned practically and with pictures. We finished our local area geography topic by finding out about directions and compass points. The pictures show the children using directions to explore a pirate treasure map. The children raced around the trim trail on the Parent afternoon, following directions and finding letters to spell a word (aerial) related to the maps we have been looking at. In RE, Y1s learned about how Jews celebrate Shabbat and they wrote some brilliant sentences in their topic books.

Year 2s have finished their maths this term by working on presenting data in tally charts and looking at surveys and how information can be presented. They evaluated their puppets to finish the DT topic and then we wrote a puppet show loosely based on the Three Little Pigs, which was performed (without a great deal of rehearsal) at the Year 2 event on Tuesday afternoon. In RE, the children finished off the topic on Islam by investigating and designing prayer mats.

We have worked hard this term and all the children are ready for a holiday. I hope that you have a great week and we look forward to seeing you back on 5th June. There will be the Grandparents Event on the 9th June and we will be going on trips on 22nd June _ Year 2 to the Motor Museum and Year 1 to Lacock. Parent volunteers, especially for the Year 1 trip would be very welcome. Please could you catch me at the start/end of the day or through the Class 5 email if you are able to help.
