Saturday 6th May

Hello everyone.

I’m writing this while listening to the coverage of the coronation of King Charles on the radio and thinking back to our celebrations yesterday. We found out a lot about the history of the coronation and the regalia used before we celebrated with activities in the classroom including making our food for the parties, dance sessions and our street parties, which had to be moved inside due to the showers (appearing at most inconvenient times). I have tried to give a flavour of the day in our photos although I unfortunately failed to take a picture of the visit of King Charles and Queen Camilla to the classroom!

It has been a short learning week. In Maths, Year 1s learned about grouping and doubling and Year 2s revised addition and subtraction. Year 1s finished their science topic on the seasons – they wrote some lovely sentences telling us what they have found out – and then started their local area geography topic with a field trip to the playground to use their senses to identify physical and human features. Year 2s finished their geography topic on Kenya with some lovely work to create their own knowledge organisers. They enjoyed the opportunity to be creative and we will be displaying their work in the classroom.

This week, we welcomed Miss Carpenter, who will be working in the classroom on Wednesdays and said goodbye to Miss Turner, who has been with us on Fridays over the past few weeks.

The children will not need to wear PE kit on Thursday and class photos will be taken in the afternoon on Thursday. Year 2s will be having a drumming workshop on Tuesday afternoon.

We hope that you have a wonderful bank holiday weekend and look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
