Shapes and Weather
This week, in English, we wrote information posters about penguins! First, the children looked at features of a poster, before working together in groups to find out facts about a penguin’s appearance, habitat and diet. Then, the children created posters. As you can see, they did such an amazing job!
We have started our two weeks looking at shapes in maths. We looked at 2D and 3D shapes and identified them, before counting sides and vertices of the 2D shapes. The children explored the shapes, drawing them, making them out of playdough and using them to create patterns and pictures. We then looked at vertical lines of symmetry by using paper shapes.
Our new Geography topic is all about 'Why does the weather change so much?'. We have looked at the types of weather here in the UK, the seasons and weather patterns in coastal and inland places and why it differs. Leopard Class made some fantastic weather symbols and created posters to show how the weather changes in each season. They have also made coastal and inland areas and explained what the typical weather there would be like.
A shout out for helpers!
We will be walking to All Saint’s Church on Thursday 11th December for our Christmas Service. The service starts at 2pm and we will be leaving school at 1.30pm. Please let myself of one of the class team know if you can help by walking with us. Thanks in advance!
