Sporty Meerkats!

I really can’t believe this term have finished – wow that one flew by! However, the Marvellous Meerkats have certainly made the most of every moment.

But the showcase this term was Sport’s Day.  Didn’t they do well?  Myself, Miss Smith and Mrs Allen were so impressed and proud of all the children for their resilience, teamwork and sporting ability.  Everyone joined in the different activities, giving each one their best shot and cheering and supporting their team mates all the way through.  It was fantastic to see so many of you there joining us for the event – it really did mean so much to the children as their smiles showed!  Once again thank you – your support is always so very much appreciated.

Over the course of the term we have explored and investigated our local area with some hands-on learning which the children really enjoyed.  Their end of topic pieces were an amazing display of all their knowledge and Mrs Atwill was very impressed when she spoke with some of the Meerkats about their geography learning.

In maths we explored money; the different coins, notes and values. The children particular enjoyed playing shops, gaining an understanding of value and how to use different coins to create an amount. In the latter part of the term we have been learning about fractions.  The children confidently finding ½, ¼ and 1/3 of shapes and amounts before extending their learning to finding ¾ and 2/3.  We really blew our minds when we realised 2/4 and ½ were equivalent!

We have shared three beautiful books in English, here are the links so you can continue to share them at home.

If your child has brought speed sound QR codes home please do practice them.  Your continued support with your child’s reading is invaluable.

Next term our PE days remain the same MONDAY and FRIDAY.  Please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days so that they can fully participate in the activities.

We have our annual GRANDPARENT EVENT – ART EXHIBITION the first week back. Friday 6th June at 1.40pm.

We still need some volunteers to join us on our trip to Lacock on Tuesday 17th June.  Please let me know if you can help.  Thanks in advance.

I will be in class Monday – Thursday and Mrs Rous will be teaching Meerkats on Friday the first week after half term. Our wonderful TA, Miss Smith will be in with the Meerkats all week.

Enjoy the half term break, fingers crossed the sun stays with us.  Myself and Miss Smith look forward to seeing you all on Monday 2nd June.
