Super Stourhead

It has certainly turned more autumnal this week, which was wonderful for us on our school trip to see the different colours of the leaves and all of the different trees.

The children were fantastic on the trip and had the most wonderful time walking around Stourhead. They got to visit the house where so many of them noticed lots of sculptures but were also really curious about some of the paintings and furniture that was in the house. There was a huge gallery where some of the children were able to see a picture appear by a light shining on it.

There was a lot of space for us to run around in the grounds, explore the natural environment and look at the beautiful surroundings. As always, the children were incredibly respectful and it was a pleasure to take them on a trip to represent the school.

The trip linked well to our current art topic about Andy Goldsworthy and the children have continued to make different sculptures using pattern and natural objects. It has been wonderful to see how imaginative they are with their creations.

To link with the trip and our topic, our ‘Drawing Club’ text this week has been ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ have a read of this wonderful book https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lojFpx0UOk The children have been creating monsters, thinking about the different characters and thinking about ways to tame the monsters.

If you have any questions, please speak to the adult on the door or email us at class2@westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk. The most up to date information can be found on the newsletter and the school website.
