Superstar Meerkats!
I must start this week by congratulating the Marvellous Meerkats for their fabulous singing and reciting of our Christmas poem at the church on Thursday. Myself and the team were so proud of every one of them, they sang and signed with enthusiasm and delivered their poem so beautifully – well done superstars! Also, a huge thank you to our parent helpers who walked to and from the church with us, your support is so very much appreciated.
On the theme of performances, we are so looking forward to you joining us next Wednesday (9.30am) and Thursday (2pm) for our Christmas performance. We did our dress rehearsal in front of a real audience on Friday when we were joined by the Reception Classes and some of the children from Westbury Junior School which was a real treat.
This week, we returned to Drawing Club in English and watched Pingu, the mischievous penguin for inspiration for our writing. The children described Pingu, where he lives, how he looked after the egg and even suggested ideas about who stole the egg and how! They certainly enjoyed watching the little fellow so here’s a link if you would like to watch together at home 002 Pingu Helps With Incubating - YouTube
In maths, we had been consolidating our learning from the term. Please continue to support you child by playing board, dice and card games at home as it really does help embed the skills they have been learning.
We have almost completed our geography topic ‘Why does the weather change so much?’ We have looked at weather patterns in other countries and continued to complete our daily weather journal. This week the children showed their knowledge by becoming weather forecasters – in turn they each presented a weather forecast for the UK - watch out Carol Kirkwood (BBC) you have competition!
Reading Books
We are currently collecting all school reading folders and reading books. If your child still has a reading
folder or book at home, please send it back to school as soon as possible and before the end of term.
Just a reminder, please ensure that your child has a waterproof coat in school with them every day as we do try to get outside for PE and playtime unless it is very heavy rain.
Next week, I will be in class Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Mrs Millard will be teaching Meerkat Class on the Monday. Our wonderful TAs, Miss Smith and Miss Lloyd will be in every day.
Christmas dinner and Christmas jumper on Tuesday – ho ho ho!
Enjoy the weekend – stay cosy, only 13 sleeps til Santa!
