The Great Fire of London for Glow Worms

The children certainly found it interesting to see the playground become filled with water, from the heavy rain, as the day went on. We hope the weather will be better for Tuesday and fingers crossed Sports Day goes ahead. As you can see, we continued our practise in PE so the children are looking forward to it.

This week, we came to the end of our 'Great Fire of London' topic. The children looked at what we have learned from the fire, before putting all of their learning into an A3 poster. Then, the children created a piece of artwork by mixing colours to create a fire background and using black sugar paper to make house silhouettes. We used our skills from DT to make a lever for a piece of fire to move, showing the wind. The children really enjoyed doing this and have really impressed me with their knowledge! Great job Glow Worms!

In maths, the children created number lines from 50 to 100 and identified missing numbers. They found one more, one less, compared numbers and used their learning to solve reasoning and problem-solving questions.

The children went on a bug hunt for computing to collect data. They made a tally for their results and put it in a pictogram.

Please take the opportunity this weekend to have a look for any RWI book bag books that you might have at home and please return them to school next week.  Thank you 😊 Here’s the link to the RWI blog with ideas and links to support your child with their reading.  https://www.westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk/News/Friday-14th-July-2023/
