What a busy week we've had!

Beetle Class have been very busy this week growing their brains with lots of new learning.

In Maths, we have continued with our money topic; we have compared values, counted pounds and pence, calculated giving change and looked at the variety of ways we can make a pound.  The children have continued to use the practical resources to support them in their learning.

In Science this week, we became scientists and conducted an experiment to find out which material would be best for a nurse’s uniform.  First, the children made a prediction and predicted fabric would be best material, they also gave same very good reasons why other materials were just not suitable.  We then took our learning outside of the classroom to see which material was both flexible and hardwearing, making it suitable for a nurse to wear.  The children conducted a fair test by keeping everything the same except the material.  The children’s prediction was correct.  Beetle Class also showed off their learning to the rest of the school this week during our class assembly on Tuesday.  I was very proud of all the children as they stood up individually and shared something about what they had learnt.  Well done Beetle scientists!

Last week the children designed instruments in music and this week they brought their designs to life.  Instruments were made from recycled products and the children played their instruments at the end of the lesson, accompanying the classic tune of ‘I am the music man’.

In Life Skills we continued to look at staying safe and the children helped ‘Harold’ make all the right decisions when faced with a variety of different scenarios.

Beetle Class enjoyed a library session this week and the children all chose a book to share at home.  Please continue to read with your child each day and send reading books and journals into school every day.

Next week we will have a class treat as the children have filled their ‘gem jar’.  Well done Brilliant Beetles!!!

Just a couple of small reminders, if your child wears glasses please ensure that they have them in school each day. We are Still missing a couple of homework books; can all homework books be in school next week so I can ensure Knowledge Organisers are in everyone’s books.  Thank you.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
