What a fantastic start to the new term Beetle Class.
Beetle Class have jumped straight back into their learning this week and have been very busy growing their brains. On Monday we started our new Art Topic, focussing on portraits and self-portraits inspired by the work of Thomas Gainsborough. The children have already demonstrated a good understanding of the features of portraits and put this knowledge to work sketching their initial self-portraits. On Wednesday, the children acted out parts of Thomas Gainsborough life to help them remember facts about who he was and what he did.
In maths we have continued to consolidate our prior learning and the children have used their knowledge of tens and ones to successfully add 10 more and 10 less, before moving on to adding in tens. It is great to see the children taking ownership of their learning and using the maths resources to support their understanding and independent learning.
We have taken our balancing skills one step further in PE, moving forwards and backward whilst maintaining balance. Again, great teamwork was displayed by the class when they supported each other to complete a circuit whilst balancing on benches and manoeuvring between obstacles. It was fabulous to see the children applying the WIS Diamond power of teamwork.
In Life Skills we looked at our differences and similarities. We shared the things we have in common with each other and celebrated our differences - as that is what makes us unique and individual. It was lovely to hear the children share something they believe to be particularly special about themselves with the whole class. What a talented bunch of Beetles we have!
Next Thursday (10th) we have our trip to the Holbourne Museum. A packed lunch will be provided for all children. Please ensure children are in full school uniform for the trip and have a waterproof coat with them.
On that note, the weather has now turned chilly and wet so please ensure that your child has a waterproof coat at school every day so we are able to go outside for fresh air at break and lunch times.
Just a reminder, PE is still on Tuesday and the children should come to school in their PE kit.
Next week Mrs Rockey will be in class on Monday and Tuesday, Mrs Jeffery Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
