Zoo's and World Book day!

03/03/23

This week in millipedes we have been looking at zoos using them to identify the differences between animals at home, animals in the UK and those from abroad. We started with the book Dear Zoo and the children made their own cardboard animals and enclosures for them.

The children have produced amazing animal and zoo art this week. I have been so impressed with the flip books the children have made, inspired by the dear zoo book (pictures below).

Thursday was World Book Day and it was so great to see all the costumes of different words the children came dressed as (see class picture below). We had a lovely time investigating all the words and their meanings. Mrs Smith and I were very impressed with the writing that followed!

Bee bots have been popular this week. The children have explored their programming skills this week using the bee bots, navigating their own jungles we built in the construction area.

In maths we have been exploring height using real and relative measures of objects in the classroom and the outside area.

In Read Write Inc we continue with the new groups. The blog is really helpful for practicing at home and has a break down of the relevant sounds and words for children in every group.

If you have any questions regarding RWI please ask or see the link to the Read Write Inc Blog below.
