Hello year 1s! This is where our daily learning will be now that the Prime Minister has asked us to stay at home to stay safe :)

We hope we can carry on and do the learning that we would be doing in school during this time.

Please email us with any questions or concerns, or use the TAWK instant chat app which you can see in the bottom right corner of the page. We will get back to you as soon as we can between the hours of 9am and 3:05pm.

Badger email: class9@westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk

Hedgehog email: class10@westbury-inf.wilts.sch.uk

We would also love to see and celebrate any completed work so please do email this to us and we can add it to our class blog. Keep your work together in your blue books to bring into school once we return.

This page will be updated every day with new activities to keep you busy. We encourage you to follow our normal daily timetable which we have also attached for you to see below.

Stay safe and we can't wait to see you soon.

We are really looking forward to seeing all the learning that has been going on at home. Remember to bring your books in to school on Monday so that we can celebrate with the children and share our learning.

As it's Friday let's finish with Draw with Rob. We have loved seeing all your drawings over the last few weeks. It has brightened us up! Today Rob is showing us how to draw Kevin. He is a lovely character from one of Rob's books. If you would like to watch the story we have also popped that on under the drawing.

See you next week you wonderful Badgers and Hedgehogs!

Today's story is called Actual Size by Steve Jenkins. It is a really clever book because all the pictures are the size of the animals in real life. Watch the ladies hands as she reads, when she puts them near the pictures you can see how big or small the animals are when you compare them to her. It is another chance to use our length and height words - big, bigger, small, smaller, tall, taller, short and shorter.

Well done Year One! Another wonderful day of learning. If you were able to make today's class assemblies, we hope you enjoyed seeing your friends. If you didn't manage to log on today, maybe we will see you tomorrow. We hope so!

It is that time of day where we grab a cuddly toy and snuggle up for a story...

Today's story is one that Mrs Macfarlane has shared in a school assembly before but is such a good one we wanted to share it now. It is call Fergal is fuming by Robert Starling. It is a story about Fergal the dragon who sometimes feels quite fiery. Do you sometimes feel fiery inside? What we love about this story is how Fergal learns ways to help when he feels fiery. Maybe they might help you when you feel fiery too.

Monday 1st February

Hello Year One. Hope that you have had a lovely weekend. The school grown ups enjoyed the little flurries of snow. Especially our lovely Mrs Kerbey who celebrated her birthday over the weekend.

This week is Children's Mental Health week. It is a really tricky time for us all at the moment; home learning, missing school friends and having to stay at home as much as we can.

It is easy to start feeling a bit fed up and so it is important to find ways to take care if ourselves. One really brilliant way is to move our bodies. This helps us to feel happier!

Now it's time to grab a teddy and snuggle up for a story...

Todays' story is The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. It is a story about a fish who has lots of special, shiny scales, but he doesn’t have any friends. He enjoys looking beautiful, but feels lonely. He learns that when he shares, the other fish want to be friends with him and they can all have a little bit of something special. It is one of Mrs Macfarlane's favourite stories!

Wednesday 27th January

Today's story has been chosen for us by Miss Salmon. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein is a story about a little boy has a favourite tree. He loves this tree. He plays in the tree and visits this tree as he grows older and older. The tree also loves the boy. The tree loves the boy so much that it gives and gives and gives to the boy until it has nothing left. What a kind tree – it must really care about the boy! Seeing the boy happy makes the tree happy!

Following along is a great way to relax and also do a fabulous drawing to display on the wall at home. Maybe your home grown ups or brothers and sisters can follow along too. We'd love to see your finished drawings.

Have  a great weekend and we'll see you all here next week for some more brilliant home learning!

The grumpy monkey straightened his body, raised his eyebrows, and put a smile on his face. This didn’t stop him feeling grumpy though. Sometimes we just have to wait for the grumpy mood to pass.
