Beetle Class Coronation Celebrations!

Well what a wonderful day we had celebrating the King’s coronation.  The children arrived at school dressed for the occasion in a great selection of royal crowns, regal cloaks, princess dresses and red, white and blue outfits.

We started the day learning all about the coronation and even re-enacted the famous balcony wave and cheering crowds.  We then took part in an Irish dancing workshop.  The children learnt the steps and we danced a ceilidh in a traditional ring formation.

Once back in class, we drew portraits of King Charles and played a variety of coronation themed games, particular favourites were, ‘King Charles says’ and ‘Kings Corner’.    We enjoyed listening to coronation music whilst we made sandwiches for the whole school in preparation for the afternoon tea party.  The children made traditional tea party sandwiches, with either jam or cucumber fillings – we were very impressed with their sandwich making skills.

In the afternoon, all the Year 2 children joined together for a celebratory tea party and enjoyed a selection of treats made by all the children in the school.  What a wonderful whole school team effort.

Enjoy the pictures!

We hope you all have a wonderful coronation weekend and we will see you all on Tuesday 9th.

Next week, Mrs Jeffery will be in class Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with Mrs Rockery taking Beetle Class on Thursday.
