Foundation Subjects Progression
At Westbury Infant School, the foundation subjects curriculum is designed around our belief that every child is unique and should be empowered to become a confident, resilient, kind, independent, creative, self-motivated, and active lifelong learner. It is delivered through a broad and balanced curriculum, with opportunities for self-directed learning through play. The curriculum has been developed with a strong understanding of child development research to ensure it meets the needs and learning styles of all our pupils. Knowledge and skills are carefully sequenced, keeping learning simple and focused, and ensuring that what needs to be taught is embedded through regular practice, recognising that practice makes permanent.
