Honeybee Class Friday 10th October

What a wonderfully autumnal week we’ve had in Honeybee Class!

In English, our sensory story was Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. The children were completely immersed in the magic of the story — flying on broomsticks, waving their magical wands, and feeling the slimy touch of wet frogs! They even felt the warmth as a dragon emerged from its shell and had great fun shouting, “Buzz off — that’s my witch!”

After listening to the story, the children became authors and illustrators. They painted their very own animals, sequenced the story, and even invented new animal characters to join the adventure. Their creativity was amazing!

In maths, we explored repeated patterns. The children began the week by making patterns with their hands and paint — lots of colourful fun! They then moved on to using different resources to copy, continue, and create their own patterns. They showed brilliant understanding and confidence — we were so impressed!

In PE, we continued learning how to have control over our bodies while using our listening skills. The children moved like a range of animals to different types of music, showing great enthusiasm and wonderful creativity in their movements.

Some of our Key Stage 1 children also went on a trip to Stourhead on Thursday, where they immersed themselves in the beautiful autumnal surroundings. They loved becoming witches and completing exciting challenges set out by The National Trust. They really enjoyed visiting the house and taking in the breathtaking view of the lake. A great time was had by all — we were very proud of them!

Have a fantastic weekend all!
