Christmas has arrived in Kangaroo class!
The children were very excited to come into the classroom this week and find a Santa's workshop. They have loved dressing up as elves and being Santa's little helpers. They have also received visits from the kindness elf who has given them little kindness acts to do through the week.
In Maths, this week we have been practically looking at how a whole number can be split into parts and using sentence stems such as-
The whole is 5
3 is a part and 2 is a part.
If 2 is a part, then the other part must be 3
In message centre this week we have been looking at the story Gruffalo's child. We have talked about how the mouse tricked the Gruffalo's child and about being brave. We have shared our own experiences and we wrote messages to the elf to tell them.
The children have shared their experiences of birthdays and how they celebrate. It was lovely to share some of their birthday photos and for the children to stand up and talk about how they celebrate. We talked about how we celebrate in different ways.
Our Nativity practice is well underway and the children are trying hard with singing the songs. The songs can be found on YouTube by typing in 'Wriggly Nativity'. It would be really helpful if you can play these at home to help your child to learn them.
We finished our week with a lovely performance from Sarah Scutt and her band. The children enjoyed listening to jazz music and learning about the different instruments. I wonder if they can tell you which instruments were played!
Please remember to bring your child's reading folder EVERY Friday.
