Honeybee Class Friday 18th October 25
It has been a wonderful week in Honeybee Class! The key learning focus has been “People Who Help Us.” The children learnt that there are many amazing people who help others every day — including the Fire Service, Police Service, Ambulance Service, as well as Vets, Doctors, Nurses, and many more.
The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring this topic through a sensory story. They experienced the excitement of blue sirens flashing, tasted medicine, listened to their own hearts with a stethoscope, and even brushed their teeth as part of the activities. Each part of the story captured their interest, and they showed great enthusiasm and curiosity throughout.
In addition, the children linked their knowledge of colour to create beautiful paintings of emergency vehicles, matched helpers to the people or situations they support, and even transformed themselves into people who help through imaginative play.
In maths, the children continued their learning about number as they learnt or recapped how to subitise. They discovered that when subitising, “we don’t count – we see the amount.” The children practised this skill using a range of practical equipment and visuals. They were fantastic at this and showed increasing confidence as the week went on.
During PE, the children learnt to use a large parachute to play games and work together. They had great fun trying to keep balls and beanbags afloat, making the parachute rise high into the air, and climbing underneath it. There was lots of laughter and teamwork throughout the session.
To end the week, there was a very special visit from the Police on Friday. The children were fascinated as they tried on helmets, listened to the sirens, watched the flashing lights, and explored the radios and handcuffs. Their excitement and intrigue were wonderful to see.
It has been a truly wonderful week of learning, exploration, and discovery as the children celebrated all the important people who help keep everyone safe and well.
Have a wonderful break Honeybee Class, we look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 3rd November!
