Friday 16th June 2023
Wow what a week!! The weather has been glorious and the children have been making the most of the outside area. Please can you remember to send your child to school with sun cream applied and a sun hat.
This week the children have started to learn about the beach. The children have looked at different types of beaches and talked about the features and landmarks they might see at the beach. The children have definitely enjoyed some sand and water play this week alongside our ice cream parlour role-play area.
In our maths sessions, the children have been looking at creating new shapes with two triangles, sorting items by shape, colour or size as well as listening to the story, ‘Grandpa’s quilt’. The children looked at the shapes and patterns on Grandpa’s quilt and designed a new patch of the quilt as it was too short for Grandpa. Alongside the shape work the children continue to work on consolidating their knowledge of numbers that hide in other numbers.
On Friday the children took part in the colour run – I was amazed at the speed in which they completed their laps around the trim trail on a hot day. The children should be very proud of themselves as they didn’t give up and gave it their all! Thank you to all those that sent in some sponsor money for the event.
The Read Write Inc blog has been updated to support your child’s phonic knowledge you can access it by following this link:
