Lost and Found
This week we focused on the story, ‘Lost and Found’. The children discovered a suitcase full of clues to the story and predicted what might happen. The children enjoyed retelling the story in the small world area. We investigated penguins and discovered lots of interesting facts. In our topic sessions we looked at what it would be like in the South Pole. We used google Earth to see where the South Pole is located and the children enjoyed exploring pictures of what Antarctica looks like. Towards the end of the week we looked at the North Pole and compared it with the south pole. We discussed how the North and South Pole compared to where we live.
Dragonflies Lost and Found
In our maths sessions this week we looked at the number 6. The children made their very own collections of six. We looked at ordering the numicon forwards/backwards and the children need to work out what the missing number was from the collection. At the end of the week the children enjoyed playing bingo with different dot pattern representations.
Dragonflies Maths 3rd Feb
We filled our Gem pot this week as the children have been earning lots of gems. The children enjoyed an extra playtime with the bikes and climbing frame.
We have been assessing the children’s phonic knowledge and it is great to see the progress that the children have made. If you would like to support your child’s phonic knowledge then please visit the RWI blog.
