Super Sculptures

Goodness me, what another busy week in Glow worms class ending beautifully with a lovely harvest service at the church and a chance for the children to show off their singing voices!

Glow Worms have had a great week turning in to artists creating sculptures in the style of Augusta Savage who we have been learning about. We have lovely making our own busts out of clay and we all found it quite tricky. First we had to roll the clay in to sausage shapes for the shoulders and neck. Then we had to make a ball for the head and get creative making all our facial features before attaching the head and neck together. The children loved getting stuck in and giving it a great go. You will see some of the lovely sculptures below and we will share the other half in next weeks blog.

In maths this week we have started exploring addition focusing specifically at part whole models. The children have loved chanting our stem sentences. You may have even heard some of them at home this week. For example the following - 3 is a part, 7 is a part, the whole is 10. We loved chanting in different voices including a robot voice and a squeaky mouse voice.

Remember next week we have our parents celebration event taking place on Tuesday afternoon from 2:15 - 3:15. It would be lovely to see as many parents as possible. :)
