This week in English the children have enjoyed listening to the story ‘The lighthouse keepers lunch’ and writing instructions on how to make a sandwich. They have designed and made their own sandwiches in the role play sandwich shop, ordered a set of instructions before writing them, creating a picnic for the lighthouse keeper, building cages in the construction area to trap the pesky seagull’s, drawing boats and lighthouses on the ipads and making their own lighthouses. Children even had the chance to make their own sandwiches following their instructions!

  • Friday 14 June 2024 Friday 14th June 2024 Oh, my goodness! Wallaby class had an email from the police! They needed our help. They had heard how good they are at designing wanted posters, and need the children to help catch Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh. They have been causing so much mischief in the ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ stories, that they just had to be caught!
  • Friday 7 June 2024 Friday 7th June A super start to term 6 where we kicked off the week with a new theme – Fun at the seaside! In English we have been reading the text ‘What the ladybird heard at the seaside’ and children worked together to come up with different things they might take to the seaside/beach. They looked closely at the illustrations in the book and then wrote down the different things they could see at the seaside. Children have had opportunities to enjoy themed activities including creating sea creatures out of play-doh, drawing their own seaside pictures, cutting put different beach themed pictures to create a picture, and using pasta shapes to create shell pictures.
