  • Friday 20 May 2022 Friday 20th May - Using our senses. Another week flies by and the children in Millipedes class are continuing to work hard. This week we have been celebrated for having the best class attendance in the school. Well done Millipedes.
  • Friday 13 May 2022 Friday 13th May - Millipedes are super learners This week Millipedes learning has been based around the story 'Supertato'. This has created many learning opportunities in our classroom. We have made our own supertato in the creative area, written what we think each of the characters might be saying in speech bubbles and designed our own superheroes and detailed the super powers that they had. This week we had heavy rain, but this did not stop our learning, we put our waterproofs and continued learning both inside and out.
  • Friday 6 May 2022 Friday 6th May - What a busy week Millipedes have had another wonderful week at school, we have been so busy that we haven’t managed to take as many pictures as usual!
  • Friday 29 April 2022 Friday 29th April - Millipedes are Artists This week Millipedes have been very arty in class. We have learnt about the incredible artist Tom Yendall, who has not got arms so he paints with his mouth and feet. We looked at some of Tom Yendall’s art work and tried to recreate some of his paintings outside. We also learnt how to use powder paint properly and mixed primary colours to make secondary colours.
  • Friday 8 April 2022 Friday 8th April - The Easter Bunny Visited!!! Millipedes have had a week focusing on Art. The children have been making their own Easter cards. The children chose to use yellow paint on their fingers, adding feathers and then adding faces and feet to their chicks when they were dry. They all looked so wonderful. We have also decorated fabric using lots of different mediums. The children used fabric pens, feathers, Googley eyes, buttons, sequins and lots of other wonderful materials. The children also tried a new challenge this week, weaving. The children used paper to weave an Easter egg, they are made me so impressed.
  • Friday 1 April 2022 Friday 1st April - Another Fabulous week Millipedes have had another fabulous week this week we have continued our learning about the book 'Dear Zoo' and we have also looked at 'Night Monkey, Day Monkey'. As part of our learning this week the children have looked at what a nocturnal animal is. They have sorted animals into nocturnal and not. Some of the children chose to do some writing about nocturnal animals too. The children in Millipedes have been really engaged in writing, Miss Hues put some new pens, pencils and notepads into the writing area and now the children can't stop writing! This week they've written shopping lists, thank you letters and about nocturnal animals, there is no stopping them now!
  • Friday 25 March 2022 Friday 25th March - Mother's Day baking This week’s learning in Millipedes we have been looking at the book ‘Dear Zoo.’ The children have enjoyed creating their own lift the flap books and pages. They have been using their phonics knowledge to write clues for me to guess what the animal is.
  • Friday 18 March 2022 Friday 18th March 2022 Millipedes have loved learning all about the very hungry caterpillar this week. We started by listening to the story and have practiced retelling it using story stones and props. Some children attempted to write a shopping list for what the hungry caterpillar might want to eat and then at the end of the week we had fun making our very own caterpillar fruit skewers.
  • Friday 11 March 2022 Friday 11th March - Millipedes are bakers It has been a wonderful week again in Millipedes and it was lovely to meet so many Millipedes family members this week at Parent’s consultations, thank you for coming along.
  • Friday 4 March 2022 Friday 4th March - Busy Busy Millipedes WOW, what a busy week.
  • Friday 11 February 2022 Friday 11th February - Millipedes are Historians We have had another wonderful week in Millipedes this week. This week we have enjoyed looking at old photos of Westbury and compared these to what we see in Westbury in the Present Day. We looked at old photos (1910-1950's) of All Saints Church, the Train Station, and a school photo of Westbury Infants Children. We had an excellent discussion about the photos and the children came up with lots of ideas of what was the same and different in the pictures. They even came up with reasons why they thought things were different. We also had the opportunity to look at some books which told us about the past. Fabulous work Millipedes.
  • Friday 4 February 2022 Friday 4th February - Millipedes Welly Walk Millipedes have had an excellent week at school this week. We continued with our topic of Westbury and Beyond. We learnt more about Westbury by going on another welly walk. This week we went to the train station, we talked about where the trains might go to and we were lucky enough to see a train leaving the station.
  • Wednesday 26 January 2022 Wednesday 26th January - Welly Walks and Artist Visit We have had the most wonderful week and it's only Wednesday.
  • Friday 21 January 2022 Friday 21st January - Millipedes are Mathematicians This week in Millipedes we have looked at 2 wonderful texts to support our learning. First we looked at the 'Naughty bus' and all of the adventures that it went upon. We then found the Westbury Infants naughty bus. We spent some of the afternoon looking for the naughty bus and then sketched all the places that the naughty bus had been too, it had been in the adventure playground, the big playground, the trim trail and the sensory garden! What a busy bus!
  • Friday 14 January 2022 Friday 14th January - Marvellous Millipedes This week we have had another fantastic week at school. We have looked at the books 'On the way home' and 'Me on the map' to help us with our learning.
  • Friday 7 January 2022 Friday 7th January - First Week Back Millipedes have had a wonderful first week back. They have settled back in after Christmas really well.
  • Friday 10 December 2021 Friday 10th December - Off to the Panto we go This week we have been very busy, we have been practising our reception nativity play. We have managed to do a dress rehearsal too and it’s coming together brilliantly.
  • Friday 3 December 2021 Friday 3rd December - Singing songs We had a wonderful week at school this week. We have been very busy continuing to review our sounds in our new Read Write Inc groups. We got asked what we would like to be in the school nativity play and we were given our different roles. We have started practicing our songs for our nativity which has been very fun.
  • Friday 26 November 2021 Friday 26th November - Millipedes are Artists. This week Millipedes have been very busy, we have done lots of amazing learning. We have continued learning our RWI sounds and have used our fabulous Fred Fingers and Fred Talk to help us with our writing in the afternoons.
  • Friday 19 November 2021 Friday 19th November - What a wonderful Week We have had another jam packed week in Millipedes, we have been so busy.
  • Friday 12 November 2021 Friday 12th November - What a busy Week! Millipedes have had another fabulous week at school. This week we have ventured off site and we went to Drew’s Pond in Devizes. We went on a long walk and observed our environment. On our walk we found a waterfall, a bridge and a very big pond. We had a good time and we were very tired at the end! We also enjoyed the coach journey and eating our pack lunches!
  • Friday 5 November 2021 Friday 5th November - Fabulous first week back Millipedes have had a fabulous first week back. They have had a busy week, on Tuesday they did their class Assembly in front of the whole school. We performed the story 'We are going on a Bear Hunt'. It was lovely to see everybody else joining in with our story too.
  • Wednesday 20 October 2021 Wednesday 20th October - What an amazing First Term at School. We have had a wonderful week in Millipedes class this week. The children have continued to learn more sounds this week meaning that we have been taught all of our set 1 sounds. We will revisit them all in term 2 to make sure that we are fabulous at them all.
  • Friday 15 October 2021 Friday 15th October - Millipedes are disco dancers Wow what a wonderful week we have had. This week started with our wonderful sponsored discoathon. We had a brilliant day, we danced lots and had lots of fun. Pictures from the day are a little blurry because of all the dancing!!InMaths this week we have been looking at repeating patterns and created lots of different repeating patterns using conkers, pine cones, numicon and blocks. We have learnt lots of new sounds this week, and we have started to learn Special Friends sounds. These sounds are made up of two letters but make just one sound. The sounds we have learnt are ‘w’, ‘th’, ’z’, ‘ch’ and ‘qu’. We have also been fortunate with the weather this week which has meant we have been able to visit the sensory garden. Whilst in the garden we listened to a story, explored the area around us and listened for birds.
  • Friday 8 October 2021 Friday 8th October - Marvellous Mathematicians It was so lovely to see lots of new faces at parent consultations this week, I hope you are enjoying using your sound cards and skipping ropes with your children.
  • Thursday 30 September 2021 Friday 1st October - Millipedes are Mathematicians We have had another busy week in Millipedes! We have continued learning our sounds in RWI, this week we have learnt 'b', 'f', 'e', 'l' and 'h'. We have managed to spend time looking at and feeding the school chickens. Millipedes class have been looking at matching objects that are the same, and sorting objects into groups. We have been sorting objects by colours and shapes and we have been comparing Numicon seeing if they are the same or different. We used construction materials to make matching towers, went to the trim trail to collect conkers and leaves, and then sorted them into groups. We have had a very busy week. Millipedes have a restful weekend, you deserve it after all your hard work this week!
  • Friday 24 September 2021 Friday 24th September - Painting and PE Millipedes Class have had another fabulous week at school. This week in Read , Write, Inc we have learnt the sounds 'g', 'o', 'c', 'k' and 'u'. We had our first PE session in the hall, we did our warm up showing off our bean bag skills, and then we had a fabulous lesson using Real PE. We had a chance this week to become artists as we got the paints out and created our masterpieces. We have also been developing our independence and have been learning how to wash up our own cup after having milk at snack time.
  • Friday 17 September 2021 Friday 17th September - A wonderful week! In Millipedes Class this week we have had lots of fun and excitement. We have learnt the sounds 'd', 't', 'i', 'n' and 'p' in Read Write Inc and we also met Fred the Frog. Fred only speaks in sounds so we had a go at oral blending of simple words.
  • Friday 10 September 2021 Friday 10th September - Welcome Millipedes We have had a wonderful first week at school and all of the children have settled really well in Millipedes. Millipedes have already started Read, Write, Inc learning the sounds ?m?, ?a? and 's'. We have completed a tour of the school, sang nursery rhymes, had lunch in the hall, made some new friends, dressed up, been on the trim trail, explored the sand and much, much more! We have had a very busy first week and I look forward to seeing all the children next week.
