  • Friday 20 January 2023 Friday 20th January 2023 What a fun week, Dragonflies have had continuing the story ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We looked at different versions of the story and compared the similarities and differences. We enjoyed reading ‘Keep on running Gingerbread Man’ in this story the animals were too slow to catch the gingerbread man except fox. The fox then trained the other animals to be fitter. The children explored healthy and unhealthy foods following on from the story. On Friday, the children had a big surprise…a gingerbread man had escaped from the oven in the role-play area and it was captured on video. The gingerbread man had left us some clues were to find him but we were too slow so had to make our very own gingerbread people instead. We also did an experiment with small gingerbread biscuits. We explored what happened when we placed the gingerbread person in a puddle of oil, juice, water or vinegar and compared the results of what happened to the biscuit.

  • Friday 25 November 2022 Friday 25th November 2022 This week the children in Dragonflies class have turned into bakers and enjoyed whipping up some cupcakes as part of their maths learning. Throughout the week, the children have been investigating size, mass and capacity so the perfect way to finish the week was to follow a recipe where all the ingredients had to equal the weight of the egg. As the ingredients were added to the scales the children used words such as heavy, light, heavier, lighter and balanced to describe the position of the scales. The children had such a good time baking and were delighted when they got to taste the finished cakes.
